Eight days to go but 80% of the way there! I just crossed the 40K word count milestone. It has gotten . . . harder—the messy middle of the story. I’m trying to push through it and not worry too much about plot threads I just gave up on or new ones I’m experimenting with. But it’s so painful. I reminded my mom the other day that if I die and she goes to read this she should NOT. No one should.

Friends don’t let friends’ families read their trash drafts of novels after they die.

I can’t wait for editing *sobs*.

At least I’m to writing the kissing parts. Those are fun. This book is just panic attacks and kissing and hanging out with a cat.

But getting the word count each day is noticeably taking longer, at least on days I’m not spending a long time at the Writing Center. The cherished flow state has been more elusive as I question more parts of the plot’s middle. If only the detailed synopsis I wrote would work perfectly in practice.

Still, I’m technically two days ahead of schedule. A needed buffer going into the holiday and travel for the next couple of days.

With Love,
Natalie
