I jumped on board the #1 movie on Netflix train this evening and watched Damsel. It stars Millie Bobby Brown, who is great, and the movie was fast-paced, fun, and entertaining. Subverting fairytale tropes, Millie being badass, a dragon . . . I’m all in.

The premise: “A young woman agrees to marry a handsome prince — only to discover it was all a trap. She is thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon and must rely solely on her wits and will to survive.”

Will it win any awards? Probably not. It is a pretty satisfying way to spend on Friday evening. Definitely.

After Stranger Things, I’m excited to see where Millie Bobby Brown’s career goes. I liked her in the Enola Holmes films and I hope she continues to be a star in projects like this and beyond. Although it’s also lowkey making me want to rewatch Stranger Things but I’m going to try to wait until right before the final season airs.

Keep making movies like this, Netflix. Stop making shows and then canceling them prematurely (*cough cough* Shadow and Bone *cough*).

With Love,
