It’s April 21st again, a day I celebrate every year (see posts from 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 for more), and this year I’m with my beautiful best friend Jenna who’s been there for the whole story.

We had a really incredible day together. One of those make a plan and execute the plan and then have an impromptu dance party at the end of the night kind of days.

The itinerary included a lunch at Sip, a hike at Newport State Park with a mini photoshoot, a visit to Island Orchard Cidery, and Wild Tomato pizza.

Then tonight we felt like we were kids again, starting off shuffling Taylor Swift music and dancing and then deciding to pick a song to choreograph — something we did as kids for talent shows. Dancing with her is childhood magic . . . and it’s magic we can carry into our thirties too.

She asked me earlier what I would tell my freshman self if I could. Well, a million things. But she was stubborn as fuck too so I think I would just tell her that the world is bigger than this moment and you’ll find your place in it. Fourteen-year-old Natalie liked to believe in destiny. And it’s true. If my destiny isn’t dancing my ass off next to someone I love with all my heart in a year full of change, I don’t want any part of it.

With Love,

Natalie
