Blast from my college past the last couple of days as I found myself watching a web series over a decade old: The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.
It’s a modern retelling of Pride & Prejudice told in video blog format — 2013-2014 was peak vlogging era. It mostly holds up all these years later and I’m a sucker for most Pride & Prejudice retellings. You just can’t beat Mr. Darcy, in any version. And I really like the actor in this version (Daniel Vincent Gordh — I wish this web series was a movie with this cast).
It takes me back to college waiting for the new episodes every few days, binging them is a whole new experience. 100 episodes later (they are short 4-7 minute videos), and my craving for the actual period romance is strong tonight. I’m sensing a 2005 movie rewatch soon . . . or maybe I’ll dig into other period shows I’ve wanted to rewatch (Bridgerton Season 2 or The Artful Dodger come to mind).
