Tonight, my dad and his best friend old stories over lasagna and old fashioneds and wine.

I gifted my dad a Storyworth subscription for Christmas, something I highly recommend. Essentially it gives him a prompt each week for him to share a memory or story. At the end of the year, it’s published into a keepsake book. Prompts like “What was your mother like when you were growing up?” and “What was your first job?” and everything beyond and in between. You can choose from any number of subjects or make up your own.

Now each week I get a story from my dad in my inbox. It’s such a gift to learn new things about your parents.

I learned new things tonight as the talk of Storyworth prompted more stories from high school and working at the A&W as a short-order cook. There were rabbit holes in the conversation trying to remember the name of the blonde who’d come by and flirt with them. They figured it out and the end.

I love that. I hope I am lucky enough to have friends for my whole life. I am so far.

With Love,

Natalie
