I’m volunteering for the Sunrise Movement this week by writing postcards to young voters in my area encouraging them to vote. My friend Zia put me onto the project and I got my stack of cards and an email of addresses last week. Last week I didn’t have much energy though so I’m powering through my 100 postcards in the evenings this week to get them all out by Friday.

The message is simple — we need to rise up together and vote Trump out. Check your registration and make a voting plan. Supposedly postcards are an effective way to encourage voter turnout and I’m grateful for this way to contribute that isn’t phone banking. I’ve phone banked once before for the HRC and I don’t have a thick enough skin for it. But writing, writing I can do.

I wrote while I had a show in the background — I decided to put Voltron on because I could mostly listen to it without losing the thread of the story (I have watched it a lot). Anime was out of the question since I need to constantly read the subtitles.

It’s also nice knowing I’m speaking to people outside my own bubble. Who knows if I’ll be effective, but maybe one postcard would be. That’s worth it. Every vote counts.

With Love,

Natalie
