I had a beautiful quick trip to Milwaukee the last couple of days — there and back in 48 hours. But as I summarized in yesterday’s post, spending the day with one of my best friends was so refreshing and rejuvenating. It felt like having permission to step out of all the current demands and stresses of life and just have fun. We were exhausted at the end of it — turns out 31-year-olds can’t day-drink cider and bounce back by evening — but it was worth it.

Pomono Cider Company, the sister cidery to Island Orchard Cidery in Door County, was a perfect spot to hang out. There were barely any other patrons there on a Friday afternoon and we caught up while hanging in a lounge spot for a few hours before walking over to the book event.

After seeing Leigh Bardugo last night, and waiting an hour to get our books signed, we went to a Mexican restaurant for a late dinner before heading home. We were pretty tired by that point — the alcohol drained out of our systems and our water bottles had sadly been left at home as we dehydrated in the book signing queue. It ultimately meant I slept beautifully in the hotel last night before meeting Jenna and her mom for brunch before making the drive home.

After a walk around the point in the early evening, I’m spending my time on some D&D prep . . . or I was. I made the mistake of listening to the How To Train Your Dragon soundtrack while I was prepping so now I need to go watch that movie. And maybe the entire TV series? I don’t know, wish me luck.

With Love,

Natalie
