We’re out of the hotel by 3:10 central time. Rochester to Chicago. Chicago to Madison. Driving from Madison all the way home. In time for a shower, some prep, and D&D. Worth it, of course. I hit my NaNoWriMo words in the early morning airport writing, on the plane, sitting in the food court with my family while we waited out a three-hour layover.

I interviewed my dad about cars and how to fix them if you were a teenager in 1953. We look up the 1938 Ford Coupe and he explains how a fuel pump might get clogged and how to fix it. It’s wild how writing fixations point me back to practical knowledge about life. It helps me hit my word count, anyway. 21,509 new words this month.

D&D was fun tonight — probably the least talking I’ve had to do as the players interact with one another to try to make decisions on what to do next. We’ll play again next week to keep the story moving.

It’s been a whirlwind weekend. I’m thankful that next weekend I don’t have any travel so I can catch up on writing again and relax before traveling back to Madison for Thanksgiving a few days later.

Keep moving forward.

With Love,
Natalie
