I finished my detailed synopsis last night — a 4,000 word beast of plot and scenes and feelings that will hopefully turn into a story. If only you could just write that and the book would manifest from there.
After completing, I decided to share with two of my friends and writing partners before we had a writing date tonight – Lin & Katie – and I got to spend an hour talking about the story, asking questions, and brainstorming plot points I was unsure of. It was great. I love writing friends and I’m feeling really energized about the direction. Time to stop synopsizing and dive back into scenes.
Here are my last sentences written from this past week:
- 4/28: You just want me home taking care of mom so you don’t have to feel guilty about leaving her alone.
- 4/29: She was sick.
- 4/30: You’re going to listen to them.
- 5/1: But there had been enough time.
- 5/2: That’s your dream, not mine.
- 5/3: Reese pulls her aside a few minutes before the first call.
- 5/4: Maybe he thought she already knew.
With Love,
Natalie
