Is that the sound of painfully slow writing progress being dragged across the page? Yes, it is. But it is progress. Having a weekly writing session with my friend Madeline has helped the story pick up the tiniest bit of momentum that a weekend of watching Spider-Man movies did nothing to aid.

I don’t think I’m going to come out of quarantine saying “I wrote a book!” but I’m hoping to come out of it with enough messy scenes to start actually writing the book. That’s ish (minus a pandemic) how my last story went down.

I am having fun writing my new characters though. Here are my last sentences written from this past week:

  • 4/7: I take off the wristband and throw it to the sidelines.
  • 4/8: You’ll have to catch me first.
  • 4/9: By the time I’m leaning against my front door, sweat dripping, side in stitches, there are two things I know.
  • 4/10: I definitely could have looked harder.
  • 4/11: Anyway.
  • 4/12: At two miles, we passed Culvers.
  • 4/13: What are you waiting for?

With Love,

Natalie
