I’m in the routine now, spending an hour writing sometime in the evening trying to get 1,000 words a day. That doesn’t quite equate to 7,000 words a week since I took the weekend off when I went to Madison, but I’d like it too. Wouldn’t 10,000 words a week be nice? I just want this draft zero done but since restarting a couple of weeks ago with my fresh synopsis I’m only about 10,000 words in.

Still, progress. Motivation. Writing accountability. Long, meandering passages about running and feelings. It feels good.

Here are my last sentences written from this past week:

  • 5/12: I timed myself on my digital watch, but even as I think about asking Clarke for her time I see she’s not wearing a watch at all.
  • 5/13: Bring home cheese curds.
  • 5/14: There’s a line building behind her.
  • 5/15: She’s making me nervous.
  • 5/16:The next hour passes in an agitated blur.
  • 5/17: I’m off in two hours, want to go for a drive?
  • 5/18: At least in my current timeline I don’t have to listen to Metallica every day.

With love,

Natalie
