Another week of early-stage writing on my new shitty first draft. I’m trying this thing where I mostly write chronologically (like a normal person?) and I think beginnings are my weakness. I just want to get to the good stuff, which probably means I should put more of the good stuff earlier in the book.
But I’m happy writing — even with all the shitty words and scenes I’m going to edit to bits one day but force myself to leave for now. Moving forward.
Here are my last sentence written from this past week:
- 11/24: Her eyes close and then snap open.
- 11/25: This is a disaster.
- 11/26: It ended with them up at 1 am sitting at the kitchen table; Riley and I crouched out of sight in the hallway.
- 11/27: She even cried at the end.
- 11/28: She should make some friends.
- 11/29: I roll my eyes back at her, the best I can do until she explains the joke.
- 11/30: I will do anything to beat her.
With Love,
Natalie
