My head was filled with more running than writing this past week . . . luckily my new story has a lot of writing it in so I’m counting myself on track. I think it’s a good sign when I found myself thinking about my characters while running my half marathon this past weekend. What would they do on this run? How would they be feeling?
I am woefully behind on my prompt list and even though I had the best intentions to start catching up tonight I spent all my writing energy on answer interview questions for an HR article and then writing (overdue) website copy for my brother. Looking ahead I have more free time the rest of this week and this weekend than I’ve had in a while so if I’m spitting no progress excuses next week feel free to call me up and call me out.
That said, I did manage to get a little out each day. Here are my last sentences written from this past week:
- 3/3: You want me to ruin my new leggings, break Coach’s trust, and risk hypothermia for . . . what?
- 3/4: Come on, frosh, trust me.
- 3/5: I must’ve been thinking about it a little too hard — he wanted me to trust him — because Jodie casually jammed her elbow into my ribs.
- 3/6: I needed to focus.
- 3/7: Time to go.
- 3/8: The next day she showed up with her shoes threaded blue again and outran us all.
- 3/9: I swear to god I almost deck her in the face.
With Love,
Natalie
