Writing Update Tuesday!
We trudge on. The deadline I set for myself to have a trash draft (my friend Lin just called their’s this instead of SFD, I’m going to adopt it) is in two weeks. Which if I’m going to make that deadline it really will need to be a trash draft.
Right now I have a little under 50,000 words. My rough goal is 70,000, really depending on how the story plays out. I’m realizing I am pretty poor at estimating how long story will take. In my rough chapter outlines, I start to see superfluous sections that I only notice after I’ve ignored the outline and written the scene out in the moment. My estimate of 15 chapters to go is probably more like 10.
Two weeks for 10 trash chapters. It’s going to be a stretch. This upcoming Saturday I have blocked out for a full writing day.
I long to be in the editing and rewriting stage.
Here are my last sentences from this past week:
- 4/23: Did Nora tell him?
- 4/24: I heard Jules’s voice.
- 4/25: He follows.
- 4/26: Do I want him to?
- 4/27: But be my guest, let him have another go.
- 4/28: What’s to stop you?
- 4/29: That was real.
With Love,
Natalie
