50,000 words in the books! There was confetti. And a certificate. And a video and an email with celebratory gifs. It feels nice—my first NaNoWriMo.
I didn’t plan to finish tonight (I have three more days to go), but I got on a roll with a scene and 2,000 words later here we are, at the finish line.
The finish line for the challenge anyway. I have to keep writing to finish the draft. My NaNo word count is at 50,029 words and I’ll keep updating it through the end of the month. My draft is just over 60K words right now, with 10K worth of scenes that I pulled from a different version of this story and didn’t rewrite so I didn’t count them.
This draft is definitely going to go too long and I’ll need to trim it down — maybe another 30K depending on how it shakes out. It’d be nice to wrap up the trash draft by the end of the year so I’ll try to keep the momentum going before I take a break to figure out what to do with this mess.
With Love,
Natalie
