Brené Brown asks this in her rapid-fire questions at the end of a podcast interview: What’s on your nightstand?
I think it’s supposed to tell you about a person. A little window into what they keep closest as they start and end each day.
My inventory is as follows:
- An IKEA lamp
- A library book, Queen of Nothing
- A book I own, Bridge of Clay
- A bobby pin
- The “Hope” Beanie Baby I’ve had since I was a kid
- A bifold picture frame with two pictures of me and my gran
- A 7.5oz jar of Vaseline
- Another bobby pin
- Chapstick
- A smooth rock with an orange cat painted on one side, talents to my dad
- One more bobby pin
- A sheep-shaped ceramic thing that I think you can heat up? Use to massage sore spots? Unclear.
In fairness, I also keep a tray on my bed at all times, even when I sleep (thank you King-sized mattress). The continued inventory:
- A YETI water bottle I’ve had for five years or more
- A Spoken Frame branded glass from Ten by Ten, used to drink water from a glass straw
- A library book, The Wicked King
- A book I borrowed from my mom, There’s No Such Thing As Bad Weather
- A red knit bookmark
- An Amazon Firestick Remote
- A pen
- A broken-off piece of a fidget toy that was fidgeted too hard
- A bobby pin
- Another bobby pin
With Love,
Natalie
