“Wednesday’s child is full of woe.”

I’m late to the party, but I watched all of Wednesday on Netflix yesterday and today and of course, it was spectacular. I always dig my heels in on things that quickly become my favorite. Five out of five stars, would watch again right now. I should have known after the show dethroned the last Stranger Things season for views during its debut week.

Wednesday is an Addams Family spin-off focusing on Wednesday Addams, the morbid daughter who, after getting herself kicked out of a slew of regular schools, starts at Nevermore Academy — a school for outcasts. She soon gets caught up in a series of killings, a mystery embedded in her parents’ past, and figuring out her own emerging psychic ability. Tim Burton was an executive producer and directed a handful of the episodes. The co-creators and writers of Wednesday however, are Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Those two were also behind Smallville (the Superman origin story series from the 2000s).

Wednesday was funny, smart, and kept me on the edge of my seat (even though I called some of the villains early, I still was engrossed in the story and taken on some twists I didn’t expect). With only eight episodes this season, it’s easy to burn through them quickly, but luckily the show has already been renewed for season two.

With Love,
