PSA that you can now rent or buy Waitress: The Musical (on Amazon, Apple, and probably a few other places). They did a limited theater release last December and sadly I was not within an hour of any theaters that showed it, but after the Broadway local performances last week I checked again and streaming came through.

My mom and I watched it this evening after a pizza night out. Sara Bareilles, who was the composer and lyrics for the musical, starred in it and was absolutely riveting. Seeing her perform “She Used To Be Mine” on stage brought tears to my eyes. That song mattered to me before I had any context that it was going to be in a musical.

I was lucky enough to see Waitress live on Broadway a few years ago (2017? 2018?) but part of me prefers these filmed versions. I like that the camera can get in close and show you all the details you’d never see from the crowd.

I wish every Broadway show had filmed editions like this. Thank god for Billy Elliot and Hamilton.

With Love,

Natalie
