Day three of social distancing. In part, it feels like I’ve just had a lazy weekend. For my introverted self, it isn’t unheard of that I would have a weekend in. Though I will say three days of only leaving the house to exercise is a bit extreme even for me.
Two major helpers: the internet and the friends it connects me to. Today, for example, I jumped into my friends’ season three watch of Haikyu (the volleyball anime I rarely shut up about). They’re watching for the first time and I love the show, so we decided to sync up our episode watching.
We’ve had practice. We do this with The Lord of the Rings movies from afar every year — doing a virtual countdown so we can completely sync our viewing even though we’re across the country from one another. Then we can chat and gush (via text) at epic moments.
Recreating it now for volleyball anime makes me feel like I’m hanging out with them.
These virtual connections are necessary for work but are also going to be necessary for some social sanity over the next couple weeks . . . or however long it takes. Especially living alone.
In related news, Disney decided to put Frozen II on Disney+ on Tuesday (three months earlier than planned) so there’s also a virtual viewing party in the works there.
With Love,
Natalie
