In the search for trying to keep people entertained for social events on Zoom, I tried out my version of a virtual pub crawl this evening with my coworkers.

Essentially, instead of bar hopping you website hop. The idea is to theme the discussion and have a semblance of activity since a lot of people got bored of vanilla virtual happy hours pretty quick.

Here’s how I did mine:

  • Researched “cool” websites. Or my version of cool. Websites that would be interactive, exploratory, or interesting to look at as a group.
  • Put the websites on a virtual wheel we could spin. (link to create your own)
  • Share my screen. (Using Zoom)
  • Spin the wheel.
  • Visit the website, scroll, chat. See stuff and prompt discussion. Learn things — ours got very sciencey today. I learned a lot about vampire squids?

Here are the websites I chose for today (if you’re interested in recreating):

We didn’t get to all of them (about 4 in an hour and a half), but we did have fun! Or at least, I did.

With Love,
Natalie
