It’s been over two and a half years since my last tattoo and I have a build-up of ideas. The pandemic, along with delaying my ability to get ink, also did away with any reserve I might have had about just getting a shit ton of tattoos.

They make me happy and after the last year + I think we could all use a little more happy.

So tonight my friends and I ended our week together at the lone tattoo parlor in Door County.

My friend Katie is getting her very first tattoo as I type this out on my phone. I went first and took my tattoo count from seven to nine in one fell sweep.

The first is a symbol from the show She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (a show which I wrote obsessively about after the finale in May 2020 to which I credit part of my decision to move to Door County). Lin and Cara are getting the same symbol to match.

The second is a small tattoo of a trident behind my left ear, inspired by the Percy Jackson book series.

It feels good to put something permanent on my body again. Like adding to life again – moving forward.

I’m not sure I’m done for the year just yet … stay tuned.

With Love,

Natalie
