After a morning walk to Egg Habor. After breakfast sandwiches and tater tots and beignets. After shopping in local boutiques. After cruising around the harbor and along the shoreline in a 1960s motorboat. After Pirate’s booty ice cream in a sugar cone. After an afternoon nap curdled up with my mother. After homemade noodles and meatballs. After sorting through and reboxing old books. After laundry and packing my suitcase full of new dresses and clothing swap sweaters and skirts from my mother.
Then, tonight, a hot tub. Looking out into the woods. The sky still light at 9 pm. Talking with my friend. Relaxing into the jets. Not thinking about the 3 am wake up call that will lead me back to Austin. Austin, where I am happy and at home and will find comfort in my routine and my cats and think back to sunsets over Green Bay and this hot tub in the woods.
