I took myself to a movie this evening after learning is was the last day to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem at the local theater. I’m not a TMNT nerd, but it’s so tangential to things I am nerdy about that I kind of feel like I am? I wasn’t quite the right age / didn’t have the right exposure to TMNT when I was growing up but I know the basics.
The new film was great — an origin story with a very cool animation style, lots of humor, and the right amount of camaraderie and heart. I was just looking for something fun in my lineup of distractions and this was fun. The whole vibe has me wanting more. Should I go back and watch older TMNT content? Should I hold out for a sequel (that was definitely set up)?
Would watch again. Recommend for anyone when it comes out on streaming.
