Back to Door Shakespeare tonight to see the second of their two productions this summer, The Tempest. I really do think it is the most beautiful theater setting. My parents packed a picnic for us to hang out by the lake for the hour before the play started. Wine and sandwiches and grapes and cookies and talking about happier things.

The play itself was well done. It was the same cast as The Three Musketeers, who I found funny and excellent. I read The Tempest back in college but I’ve never seen it performed. Like all Shakespeare, I enjoyed it so much more live than on the page.

The play started at 7:30 though which is very late for my family, but we persisted. Or mostly. And I loved seeing the forest and the stage lit up at night.

I’m looking forward to going back next summer!

With Love,

Natalie
