I subscribe to the weekly James Clear newsletter where he often shares ideas of his own and others. Today this quote stood out to me:

Speed is perpetually undervalued.

Asking that person out today means you get to live more of your life with them and less of your life waiting.

Starting your business today means you begin learning immediately and have more time to figure out what works.

Go fast. The future is never guaranteed and the right time may never come.

James Clear

There is a time to go slow. I know that. But I like this perspective too — it’s a permission for urgency, a respect for the time that we have. My impatient heart thrives at the idea. The right time may never come.

When I read that today, I thought of how I started my adoption process before I was really ready because I knew it would take a long time. It has taken a long time and sometimes I feel very ready and sometimes I lay awake terrified at the decisions I’m making. But no matter what happens, I’m glad I didn’t wait until my life felt perfect. It’s never going to feel like that. But I’m ready enough and I’ll figure out what works along the way.

With Love,
Natalie
