If you haven’t heard, The Last of Us is being adapted into a TV series, now airing on HBO. The Last of Us is a video game that I watched being played through a while ago (I started playing through myself but my ex got tired of how bad I was at it. To be fair, I was pretty bad, so I watched him replay it through in its entirety so I could get the story). It’s a zombie apocalyptic story that follows Joel and Ellie, an unlikely pair who get pushed together on a quest across America. It’s that whole reluctant parent to non-bio child trope that is so, so satisfying.
I watched the first episode of the adaptation last night and it was amazing, if not as dark as you’d expect a zombie pandemic story to be. It helps that I’ve seen the game and know what’s coming in the story. But wow it was well done and I recommend it to anyone who likes good storytelling.
