For someone who has her fair share of nice dresses and fancy shoes, I have very few occasions to take them out for a spin. Thankfully company holiday parties exist. While the party could definitely be a casual affair — we are a very laid back office and the party was at a brewery — it’s fun to dress a little smarter than our every day. So though we don’t have a dress code, and a graphic tee would genuinely be okay, most people do put on their shiner buttons for this annual event.

I got ready in my work bathroom (or more accurately, the private locker/shower room since it had a full-body mirror and an outlet for my curling iron). So here are the only pictures I got of myself the whole night, standing on the rubber shower mat in my heels:

Pretty on point though right? I bought this perfect-for-me little black dress while shopping in Canada and while I did break it out at Thanksgiving too, this was the occasion I truly had in mind: black dress, red heels, red lips.

Luckily it was warm enough it Austin last night that I didn’t freeze or even need a coat.

I want a million more reasons to wear this. I really do love dressing up — I always have. I used to put a lot of energy and emotion into the outfit I’d wear for our family holiday parties when I was growing up — my dresses are completely intertwined with the Christmas atmosphere and tradition in my memory.

On the other end of the spectrum, I really want to wear my Spider-Man holiday sweater as much as possible in the coming weeks.

With Love,
Natalie
