I finally got my piece of Taylor Swift’s Eras tour at the movie theater tonight. It’s such a gift that she released “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” as a film so soon (she literally filmed it during the LA concert tour dates in August and it came out this week). And she still has a year of concerts left.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to go to the showing. All my commitments have felt flimsy lately. I had randomly bought tickets for next weekend in Madison and then this weekend in Sturgeon Bay (the local tickets went on sale much later and I wasn’t sure if they were going to have a showing at all) without a plan to see it with anyone and not knowing if I’d be up for it.

Plus, my judgment of what I would enjoy right now is off kilter . . . so, me not feeling excited to see the show wasn’t a great measure of if I would actually enjoy it.

I did end up going alone at the urging of a friend and coworker (and fellow swiftie) who had also taken herself to see it alone last night and insisted it was worth it.

I did enjoy it and it was worth it. It’s Taylor Swift. And besides my deep attachment and nostalgia for all her music, Taylor knows how to put on a show. I was tearing up during the opening song with the pure power of it and she got me a couple of other times throughout the show (what do you expect when you perform “Champagne Problems”, “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” and “You’re On Your Own Kid”). If I had seen it live I know I would have been in tears the whole show.

The joy she finds in performing is intoxicating — the dancing, the storytelling throughout, the complete spectacle. Taylor Swift forever.

With Love,
Natalie
