I open the windows.

That is spring.

I run in a T-shirt.

I don’t put a coat on today. Not once.

I let myself get cold with the windows open into the evening. I don’t care. It was a joy to be able to open them at all.

I don’t believe in spring in Door County, not really. The season is too fleeting — winters are longer here, summer’s shorter, and there’s little in the transition. Except for today, when you feel the sun and see the ice melting on the shore.

Change personified. As I anticipate my own impending change (less than 8 weeks now, he’s the size of a Care Bear they say), the weather’s reflection makes it feel more real somehow. A long winter and then suddenly — summer.

With Love,

Natalie
