Sickness often comes at me like a train on tracks I’m shackled to … I tug at the chain but really all I can do is wait until I’m flattered. I don’t really have consistent strategies on early prevention when I get sick. I’m the person who always googles ‘how to stop a cold’ when I’m already cresting the worst of it. Then there are rumors of Emergen-C packets or Airborne or chicken noodle soup … some things are probably true.
Stepping Up: A Wager
My health plan this year provided us with step tracker bracelets and, should we choose to participate, contributes money into our health savings account if we hit daily step goals. I’ve never had a step tracker before, but it was free and I figured I was already exercising so I might as well get paid for it. (The counter-argument is what these insurance companies might do with all this health data, but I am startlingly unconcerned about it).

I lean towards obsessive, after all, and food and weight is something I don’t want to be obsessive about.

It does seem that most of social life is revolved around drinking. Even the most casual hang is a “come over for pizza and wine.”
Fitness: What’s Working For Me
I talked about a few things I began last year (my year of Rhythm) that finally got me in a routine for fitness that I’ve been able to hold … longer than I’ve held one in a long time. Everyone’s different, but I wanted to expand and share what’s working for me.
The Mac & Cheese Betrayed Me
This last year I’ve changed my eating habits. It’s been gradual and imperfect, but for most of my life I have been a painfully picky […]
Rhythm, A Reflection
A salute and reflection to my word for 2018: Rhythm.
