Breonna Taylor was shot in her bed at 26 years old and the police officers who murdered her have yet to be held accountable. Are you tired of hearing about this yet? Only one officer has been fired and none of them have been charged. Hers is only one name of many Black people who’ve lost their lives to police brutality. We know this. We know this. I can’t imagine how tired Black people feel of having to fight for basic rights, basic justice, basic human dignity. And those in power wait it out, wait for the hashtags to stop trending, the white allies to stop screaming, and nothing lasting, substantial, what they are asking for changes. Arrest the officers who murdered Breonna Taylor.

So don’t stop. I speak to myself and other white people who can sink into the safety of our bubbles. Here’s what you can do today, posted from @justiceforbreonnataylor :

Keep up their contact pages on your browser, bookmark them, put a time in your calendar. It’s easier than it sounds, I promise. Ask for accountability. Ask for the officers that killed Breonna (Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly and Detective Myles Cosgrove) to be fired alongside Detective Brett Hankison, and have their pensions revoked. Ask the AG to bring charges against all three of them. Ask for accountability from police sworn to protect us.

And then pay attention to your city budgets, how much is going to police vs other services, and vote at a local level to change it.

And vote, vote, vote, vote.

With love,

Natalie
