I’m shopping local this year. Or, if not local, I’m shopping small business only for holiday gifts. I had to add that last caveat because I will definitely be supporting some Etsy shops. . .

I ended up going uptown with my folks this afternoon to a couple of local Egg Harbor shops. I haven’t been out to stores much at all since Covid, but I was gratified to see how seriously business owners were taking precautions. Masks on, limited people allowed inside, lots of hand sanitizer, and diligent fitting room sanitization. And it was pretty quiet anyway with only a couple of other people in the stores we visited.

I ended up buying a few things, egged on by those sweet Black Friday deals, and, as I’m sitting in the most comfortable pair of gray joggers (sweatpants?) I’ve even worn, I have no regrets. One shirt I bought is covered in constellations. It’s just nice to see what’s around locally for future reference as well — I have so much more exploring to do to fully settle into Door County but I can slowly figure out what shops and places I like.

Aside from a few outfits, I also bought something called “Pinch Me Therapy Dough” described as “A squishable compound that’s designed to channel relief through the senses, naturally. This placating putty was developed using the proven scientific methodology of color and scent as they relate to relaxation-all in the convenience of a portable tin. Think of it as a handy little mood-shifter.”

So clearly I needed it. I’m fidgety as hell so anything to keep my hands busy is a win. Plus I got the pink “bumbleberry” kind and it smells amazing.

I hope you are having a good post-Thanksgiving day of rest or shopping or heaps of leftovers or all of the above.

With Love,
Natalie
