For whatever reason, this week was a long one. But I put in my calendar at 5pm today: Sewing Club.

This is a tribute to my grandmother, my mom’s mom, who would have sewing club with her gal pals along with some lime daiquiris. It wasn’t until the first time my mom and dad tried this particular recipe — and got really drunk — that they realized why very little sewing got done at sewing club.

It’s essentially limeade and a lot more rum than you’d think.

We froze the daiquiris ahead of time and had them tonight, allowing the quickly tipsy conversation to flow.

We call the recipe “Meg’s Daquiris” after my grandma. And though she passed when I was seventeen, I still often get the feeling that we’d get along splendidly to this day.

Cheers, Gran.

With Love,

Natalie
