Is it a sign of aging
When your neck tenses
Raging in discomfort
While you dig your fingers in
and drape heat packs on your shoulder
Wishing we’d all started wearing masks
Months and months ago
So you could get a damn massage

Or only a sign
That you should look up
More than down
Reading and working and living
On the screens
That exhaust your eyes
But keep you looking

It is a sign of thin skin
When you crave warmth
Like you crave water
Dehydrated before you know it
And those little heat packs
Aren’t quite enough
To get you warm
Or sooth your muscles

Or only a sign
For you to order
A new heat pack online
King Size
When the weather changes
You dress for it
Or buy for it

I light a candle every morning
Pumpkin Spice
And wear slipper socks
With cats ears
I can see the wind
Push the waves higher
Push the leaves to the ground
Like I could feel it push
Against my skin
As I ran along the shore

The seasons
Of the weather
Of my life
Signs that I am
Home

With Love,

Natalie
