After a slow January and February, the movie season is finally picking up again. I saw A Portrait of a Lady on Fire and Birds of Prey: and The Fabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn this past week and am seeing the new adaptation of Emma this evening. I started looking ahead at movies I should have on my calendar for the rest of the year. The great thing is there’s always some that come out of the woodwork, but here are the movies I’m already excited for this year:
- Onward – March 6th
- Mulan – March 27th
- Black Widow – May 1st
- Artemis Fowl – May 29th
- Wonder Woman 1984 – June 5th
- In the Heights – June 26th
- Ghostbusters: Afterlife – July 10th
- The Eternals – November 6th
- The Witches – October 9th
- West Side Story – December 18th
Onward and Mulan have been on my list for well over a year — I’m thrilled I get to see them both next month. But as I was skimming the new release list I realized how many movies I have no context for (JoJo Rabbit came out of nowhere for me last year as did others). I have a season pass to the Alamo Drafthouse, though, which means I’m going to two or three movies a month and can see more than just my top wishlist and discover new stories.
See you at the theater!
With Love,
Natalie
