We hung close to home today — or our home away from home at our condo. After the mandatory 4 am alarms of the workweek, it was a blessing to sleep in and have a lazy morning of listening to my book, eating pop tarts, and then heading out for a run. For lunch, Wes and I walked across the street to a bistro where we talked about his film projects and my writing and it was delightful. Truly.
After a family game of Euchre, I walked around the outdoor shopping centers with my parents just to move and soak up the sun. Though I did come away with a new outfit. I’ve spent the last hour playing one of the new games of solitaire I learned, a hard one I hadn’t won yet. Until now. It was extremely satisfying.
We have taco night tonight and then tomorrow are looking forward to a full day adventuring at the Volcano National Park. But I love these slow-paced vacation days where we take the day as it comes and we don’t have anywhere to be. It’s a good start to truly relaxing — I need to power down my brain (and all of its work thoughts) before I can actually recharge.
So I pour myself a glass of wine and give our adopted condo cat, Suki, some treats on the lanai. For now, let there only be this.
With Love,
Natalie
Euchre is fun
