Shaking outside an apartment door
I remember what’s it like
To not feel safe
To fear going home
If we all had safe harbors
To moor our weathered ships
The world would be a little warmer
And if we all had safe arms
To run to when there was nowhere else to run
We would all be a little kinder
If we all had that safety net
Maybe we’d leap before we catch fire
But we don’t all have harbors or nets
Or arms to catch us
I wish we all had people who’d hold out their arms
And catch us
I do
And you deserve that too
A wish, a prayer:
May you see the lighthouse
And be guided safely to shore
With Love,
Natalie
