I squeezed in a little extra Austin nostalgia tonight and caught a movie at the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar. And I really squeezed it in — I had to literally run to the theater from my hotel to make it in time after my all day work meeting (good motivation to take up running consistently again) and I’m back at the hotel a little after 9 pm. . . which is fine if I didn’t have to get up sometime in the 3 o’clock hour to catch a 6:20 am flight home.
But I love the Alamo. They’ve updated this location since I’ve been last — the third update of this particular location I’ve visited over the last decade — and the recliner chairs and trays that swing toward your lap are amazing. The food is as good as ever and I ordered the classics and had two glasses of wine while watching the new Miyazaki film “The Boy and the Heron”.
And everyone is fucking quiet. It’s lovely.
With Love,
Natalie
