This must be the best version of remote work: working from a home in Hawaii.

Granted, I’ve decided to keep CST hours so I started at 4:50 am HST today, but I’ve mostly kept my same sleeping schedule so it’s no sweat to be up that early. Then I was done by 1 pm with the afternoon in front of me. An afternoon I spent going for a run and then listening to my book while playing solitaire on the lanai. Unhurried. Nowhere to be. I had the condo to myself today while my parents adventure around the island and then picked my brother up at the airport.

Part of me was wishing I could always keep hours like this, start early and end early. Work does really get in the way smack dab in the middle of the day like that.

Of course, the best version of vacation would be not working at all, but that’s next week and I’m trying to keep reasonable hours this week . . . not putting in more time in my afternoons so I can enjoy where I am and start to reset.

All in all, it makes me very grateful to be at an all-remote company, to have the technology to do my work anywhere, and to have the type of job where I can get everything done through a screen. It allowed me to move home to Door County, to visit friends in other states, and now this–hot days in February. A blessing.

With Love,

Natalie
