Big news of the day: I am registered to vote in Wisconsin!
Obviously this was my first priority moving here. Or as much of a “first prioirty” something can be when you leave all your important documents in a small safe that stayed with the moving company for a month before they delivered it . . .
Decisions were made. But everything got here safely, and the next step was heading to the DMV for a new license. There is only one DMV in the county, twenty minutes away, open only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. And I’ll admit I did procrastinate this journey last week, as my plan was to get there right at opening (7 am) to get back for work in time.
But I got up this morning — no snooze — and did the thing. New temporary license in hard, I registered to vote this evening. Because you can do it online in Wisconsin? That was not a thing in Texas. Complete online, print, mail, uffda.
Once I have my official license in the next week or so I can request my absentee ballot (you have to have a picture of the real one to upload). And while you should vote wherever you are, I’m in a state that I know could really use mine.
Let’s fucking go.
With love,
Natalie
