A week away, a week at home, I stitch together this time off and feel like I’m getting away with something. It rains most of today, so I read (Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak) and listen to a podcast while playing solitaire and eat comfort food.
When there’s a break in the heavy rain in the afternoon I walk for an hour and a half, planning to listen to more D&D podcasts (I’m onto Dungeons & Daddies Season 2) but instead putting on music and thinking about my own stories and writing. I don’t do that often — just listen to music and think. Or be in silence and think. It’s good for me. And I haven’t felt motivated to think about my own writing in a while so it’s energizing and fun and still makes me cry a little since I imagine things that sometimes make me sad.
As the rain picks up again, I decide it’s the perfect night for a fire this evening. I let it burn while I watch a D&D show (Mentopolis), play more solitaire, and scribble down the story ideas I had on my walk onto notecards for later.
There’s thunder and lightning outside. These are the best kind of days, when the weather matches your ambitions perfectly.
With Love,
Natalie
