I had a very quintessential day-after-Thanksgiving day. From the slight hangover from good wine to doing some local Black Friday shopping uptown to two meals of Thanksgiving leftovers to decorating for the holidays. I also snuck in a walk and hot tub soak.

I don’t have many decorations, most of them are childhood leftovers — like our Christmas ornament advent calendar or the faux bag of reindeer food I set on the mantle. I do have a small fake tree that I dressed with my years of collected Barbie figurines and topped with a Spider-Man ornament — my own angle on top of the tree. Merlin keeps chewing on the fake branches, but he’ll wear himself out. I pull out my holiday sweaters and my pair of Christmas socks. Tis the season.

Tonight, I built a fire and have spent the last couple of hours in front of it editing my manuscript. I haven’t spent meaningful time on it this month since I’ve worked most evenings, but it felt good to sink into it tonight. Hopefully, I’ll have more time this weekend to get into a good rhythm for the rest of this year.

I love the long Thanksgiving break. I know it’s not so peaceful for everyone, but for me, it’s eating and rest and restoration before a busy month ahead.

With Love,

Natalie
