It’s been nearly two years since I did my Miraculous Ladybug PechaKucha, and today I presented two new PechaKucha’s for a Pride-themed event at work.

PechaKucha = presentation style where you present 20 slides in 20 seconds each.

My coworker and I each did two since no one else stepped up to present and we had the time. We did have more of an audience than I was expecting. So much so that maybe I would’ve picked some more relevant topics to everyone . . . No, of course not. If people are going to give me ~6 minutes to talk about whatever I want then I’m going to get super niche.

First presentation: “How to find the fanfic you need: navigating AO3 like pro” . . . a presentation on how to use Archive of our Own’s tags, filters, sorting, and bookmarks to maximize the success of finding great fanfiction. If you are already familiar with AO3 you probably know most of what I covered (like sorting by kudos/bookmarks, filtering complete works only, and using include and exclude tags to get the most specific results).

Basically, all this did was just expose that I read a ton of fanfiction and have ~850 bookmarked fics. It was also a fun challenge to present about fanfiction while using only safe-for-work screenshots.

The second presentation I prepared on a whim last night but I’ve been wanting to talk through this topic for years. The title: “Natalie is obsessed with these 6 seconds in the Season 4 My Hero Academia end credits, a presentation”.

So I spent my time showing this six-second clip buried in the end credits of Season 4 and then analyzing the four images that perfectly depict Kacchan and Deku’s relationship journey in the shadow their mutual idol. It was a nice distraction to put it together and fun to do such a specific analysis.

Ane one person cared! Her whole family stopped what they were doing and came to listen when they heard what I was talking about because they are all such big fans of the show.

On deck on my bench of PechaKucha topics:

  • How to Get Good at Mario Kart
  • The Enemies-to-Lovers Trope
  • Blue Whales Are Awesome (should I revive my college presentation? wish I had those notes . . .)
  • And maybe just a general “Why you should watch My Hero Academia” so I can nudge my friends along (you know who you are, it worked for Miraculous Ladybug)

With Love,
Natalie
