We did a PechaKucha at work today. I was not familiar with what this is, so for your education: PechaKucha means chit chat in Japanese, and in this context, it’s a style of presentation. You essentially have twenty slides all set for times at 20 seconds each. So you end up with a 6 minute 40 seconds on a topic. The slides are usually pictures with not a lot of info and the timer keeps things moving and gives the presentation a faster, engaging pace.
We organized an hour happy hour for PechaKucha and six people did a presentation on any topic they wanted, myself included. Topics included: why dishwasher pods are awful, someone’s rocks, how to make the most of your theme park experience, and how to karaoke for introverts. I did a presentation on why Miraculous Ladybug is one of the best shows ever created. It was awesome. And as a whole, the event was really fun — more so than I expected. People already asked to do another one.
Other topics I could do a PechaKucha on . . . an introduction to fanfiction, why high school musical is a queer movie, beginner’s guide to writing haikus, volleyball anime . . . the ideas are endless.
With Love,
Natalie
