This is such a good book season and I’ve been looking forward to Casey McQuiston’s sophomore novel One Last Stop for over a year. Their first book, Red, White, & Royal Blue is one of my all-time favorites (enemies to lovers but make it the Prince of Wales and the First Son of the United States, *swoon)*.

One Last Stop is queer rom-com heaven, telling a love story to the backdrop of New York and the Q train. There’s found family, kissing for “research purposes”, a big mystery, and a little bit of magic. And so much more but I don’t want to give anything away. Casey McQuiston’s prose is beautiful and funny. Only they can deliver both the lines:

“August Landry does not trust people, but she trusts fried chicken.”

As well as:

“You can try, she guesses. You can tear yourself apart and rebuild from scratch, bring yourself to every corner of the map, sew a new self from the scraps of a thousand other people and places. You can try to escape to fill a different shape. But at the end of the day, there’s a place at the foot of the bed where your shoes hit the floor, and it’s the same. It’s always the same.”

I want more New Adult books like this one. I want more queer books like this one. I just want more Casey McQuiston books.

With Love,

Natalie
