My parents took me out to Nightengale this evening, a traditional Wisconsin supper club in Sturgeon Bay. I’m into the supper club vibe . . . or really any place that automatically brings bread to the table. But truly I think I needed to get out. I’ve had a tough workweek that’s been nonstop and mostly heavy. A lot of emotional labor that’s necessary but entirely draining. Plus I find myself knocked out of my better routines this week.

The simple act of getting out for dinner and being in a new environment — of being in the world for a bit and seeing that the world isn’t just the problems I’m facing at work — helped. And allows us to talk about other things — like upcoming vacations and D&D. I am always talking about D&D.

It’s also nice to go out to a restaurant on a Wednesday evening — something you really do have to go to Sturgeon Bay to accomplish but it’s not that far away.

They also had very good onion rings.

With Love,
Natalie
