In the woods we find
Yellow lady slippers, rare
Treasures of springtime

Then, across the lane,
A graveyard of copper trees
Who drowned last summer

We’ll clear them away
Wait for new growth to take root
The forest persists

I close my eyes, breathe
Open: the bay and blue sky
I can persist too

With Love,

Natalie
