Write me an ode
To the candy apple red crewneck
And faded aloha leggings
I wear two workdays in a row
My hair curls where it pressed against my pillow
And over the Zoom filter I get compliments
When I should get a hairbrush

This is an ode
To this lift-top coffee table I love
It makes it all too easy
To putz through work in the evening
One eye rewatching familiar shows
The other writing to-dos to cross them off
Am I doing it? Is this succeeding?

I lay awake past midnight
Like a poem fallen flat
My mind caught on a spinning wheel
My chest clenched by the unfriendly ghost
Who reminds me that I have everything to fear
It could all go away if you let it
Sweet dreams, my dear

With Love,
Natalie
