Today was dedicated to mother-daughter time.
Starting with a relaxing 90-min hot stone massage at a new place for us in Sturgeon Bay that I would definitely return to. The sauna beforehand, the heated table, the hot stones themselves, the lavender aromatherapy . . . time passes too quickly. I could lie there all day.
Afterward, we had lunch at Cedar Crossing on Third Avenue — another place that we hadn’t been to before and would definitely return to. Excellent menu and the food was divine — from the pimento cheese appetizer to the fried chicken sandwich and potato salad to the fresh cookies for dessert.
After a stop at Novel Bay Bookstore (it’s Independent Bookstore Day!) we headed for a Target run to get a few early baby essentials — bottles, burp clothes, swaddles, a crib mattress . . . we’re trying to keep it to a few early necessities right now.
Then we met friends at Anchored Roots Winery (also new to me!) for drinks and a few rounds of Euchre. Nothing beats Stone’s Throw Winery for me in Door County, but they had a good red and a nice atmosphere for what was a cold and rainy day here.
We kept it going by baking Papa Murphy’s at my place and watching the movie Ghosted on Apple TV — the new action/romance movie with Chris Evans. Definitely entertaining if you’re in the mood for that genre!
It was a full day and a good day. I’m filling my time lately with a mix of distractions and preparation and today was both. Above all, I’m feeling lucky to be so close (geographically and emotionally) to both my parents so I can have days like these.
With Love,
Natalie
