I had this beautiful morning of working on writing in the hour before I started work. Unplanned. I had planned to start work an hour early, but I realized I had the energy and time so I put on Hank Williams and spent some quality time with my writing notebook.
It’s lovely to think about story stuff. A beautiful distraction while I wait for time to pass . . . and also a reminder that this is something I can always have: imagination, writing, letting puzzle pieces fall together in my mind.
It takes me down some weird rabbit holes though. Learning about trucking jobs in the 50s . . . researching mobile home layouts that were constructed during WWII . . . listening to Hank Williams on purpose for the first time.
It’s also led me to watch The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for the first time, which admittedly seems like it will help little in my research but it’s set in the ’50’s and is a lot of fun.
I will be accepting other recommendations for ’50s research, especially the early 50’s. Thank you very much.
With Love,
Natalie
